Game Review : "The Handy Man"

"The Handy Man"

A game review by Majime Domingo

Game Kingdom's other game called 'The Handy Man' was produced alone by Joshua Medrano. A game of Auction and Bidding. A game of strategy to fulfill a Businessman's dream.

The game "The Handy Man" is a little confusing but it's fun once you get the hang of it. It's also a game of math and conserving money for the next round. "The Handy Man" is confusing when it comes to the mechanics. I'm not sure if the rules aren't clear of the Banker is really confusing. Another flaw of the game is that a player should be a "Banker". Other than that the game works perfectly.

The starts with the Banker giving out 300 tokens to the players. Those are their starting money. They use those money to buy the materials later on to build the floor. Each floor has a three material requirement. After placing out the requirements, the players may now decide to buy the materials now or save their money for later. If the players decided to buy the same items, the materials would cost more. When you obtain the requirements for the floor, you win the round but its not done there. Each floor you obtain has an allotted money you can get and use for the next round. Before the next round starts, player's are allowed to buy the materials they think they'll need for the next floor except for the materials the previous floor needed. The one who got the floor isn't allowed to buy materials after the round. The player that has the most floor obtained wins.

Yes this game has too many components. The Cards for the materials and the floor requirements are fine but the number of money tokens are too much. I think this game would be better if there was a board that goes with it. A board designed that has exactly everything in it to diminish the number of components the game has. Art is also important. The more exciting the game looks, the more people would like to play it even if the components are too much.

"The Handy Man" may be a little confusing but it's really enjoyable. If you like games with Auction and Bidding you should try playing this one.
